Project Overview
In winter to spring 2024, we partnered with R.A. Schaefer & D.M. White Architects and Windover Construction on the brand-new Aster at the Summit just north of Boston.
Aster at The Summit stands as a testament to the perfect blend of convenience and luxury, strategically located at the intersection of I-93 and I-95 in Wakefield, MA. This premier community comprises three expansive buildings housing 173 apartments. With options ranging from studio to three-bedroom homes, Aster at The Summit caters to diverse residential needs while offering a suite of amenities designed to enhance the living experience.
Scope of Work
Entrusted with the design and installation of the exterior stonework for this prestigious project, we proudly supplied and installed our Pinehills Ohio Drystack Lambris selected in partnership early on with the architect and paired with our Patented Clip System™ for a mechanically fastened stone veneer installation.
International Building Code and the Clip System™
As of 2021, the codes for commercial and residential building set forth by the International Code Council (ICC) now equally specify the following for all stone veneer installations falling within Moist (A) and Marine (C) Climates of the US:
“A space or drainage material not less than 3/16” inch in depth shall be added to the exterior side of the water resistive barrier.”
Segovia Clip System™ Example Installation
With some of the most precipitation in the US per year, New England falls within the Moist (A) region of the US under the ICC’s Climate Map making the Clip System a no-brainer. The Clip System’s ¼” built-in drainage plane provides the very best breathability on the market for this wall type, guaranteeing an increased value and longevity in terms of finished product and weather performance.
Two layers of any WRB with the Clip System’s 1/4” built-in drainage plane is both acceptable and code exceeding and in all climate zones. The Clip System’s drainage plane is a continuous, free and open, ventilated airspace.
